What is -D-A-S-H- Re-Entry

In 1998 -D-A-S-H- Reentry was created by Glenn Smith, founder of Life Connections of the Carolinas, Inc. and implemented in Mecklenburg County Jail, supported by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.  The original life skills curriculums were created to provide research-based instruction to improve recidivism and personal development of individuals who were presently incarcerated. The development of Life Connection’s –D-A-S-H- Reentry journey has involved psychologists, instructional specialists, teachers, administrators, university professors, researchers – all working together – to build an incredibly comprehensive solution to improve the lives of individuals.    The curriculums used in –D-A-S-H- Reentry include a course for incarcerated men, women and juveniles.

All of the -D-A-S-H- Reentry Life Skills Courses are designed for those individuals who are committed to looking closely at how they have been living their livesand are now ready to take an even closer look at how they want to live their lives in the future.  The -D-A-S-H- Reentry courses fit together like a jigsaw puzzle to help individuals make a bigger difference in the lives.

-D-A-S-H- Reentry is the longest running and largest provider of life skills instruction in the Mecklenburg County Jails.   We offer over 15 different life skill courses.  Some of which are: Creating Your Be-Print, Parenting, Transformational Life Skills, Strengthening Health-Wealth-Relationships-Intellect-Spirituality, and Managing Your Emotions, just to name a few.

-D-A-S-H- Reentry provides recently released individuals with wrap-around services, which includes one-on-one coaching sessions, support groups and access to our vast network of referral services. We understand that making it through imprisonment is just the beginning of the process. That’s why we work with individuals upon release to help them have a smooth reentry back into our community.

All Life Connections programs are available in both English and Spanish.
