Helping Youth Discover Guidance Within Their Own Networks

Mentoring Program

Strong mentorship can change the course of a young person’s life. At Life Connections, our Mentoring program gives youth the tools to identify and build positive, lasting relationships with supportive adults already in their lives. Rather than assigning a stranger, we use a youth-initiated mentoring model that helps young people develop one of the most important life skills of all: learning how to seek out natural supports and trusted guidance within their own community.

How the Mentoring Program Works

While enrolled in Mentoring, youth and their families receive structured support that encourages independence, accountability, and growth:

Each youth partners with a Mentor Coach to identify a self-selected Mentor.

Together, they develop a formal one-year agreement that provides structure and accountability.

Mentors receive ongoing training and support from skilled Mentor Coaches, ensuring they can guide youth effectively.

Youth set personal goals, reflect on their progress, and work toward becoming the person they want to be.

Parents and teens participate in sessions that allow families to practice the skills being developed.

Why Families Value Mentoring

This program doesn’t just provide a mentor, it empowers youth to discover the natural supports around them. By building social capital, young people learn how to seek help, make better decisions, and strengthen their sense of belonging. Parents gain peace of mind knowing their child is connected to safe, supportive role models.
